| My Time My Space offers a range of arts activity to women experiencing post-natal depression in an innovative partnership with the Health Visitors, Children's Centres and Health Promotion. The aim of My Time My Space is to support women with postnatal depression to overcome their illness and feel more at ease with their condition by meeting others in a similar situation whilst raising self-esteem and confidence through the teaching of new creative skills. |
| The project will support the development of creative skills and community engagement through a 10 week project for 10 + participants at Peasedown St John Youth Centre and Keynsham Children’s Centre placing support in the heart of community resources. Every session will be supported by a health visitor.
Participants will be supported to contribute to on-line learning resources that can be shared with the wider community. |
| The steering group are keen to develop opportunities within the local community for participants to showcase their work. They would also like to develop progression routes including access to CBT, Out of the Blue, health activators, exercise on prescription, nutrition advice, cooking skills, relaxation skills and learning development through links with the Community learning service, local colleges, clubs and groups. |
| The project would like to address breaking down barriers of stigma and discrimination for women with mental health / post-natal depression issues and to promote and develop community support links locally. The sessions provide time and space for the women to come to terms with huge emotional challenges and, engage in new creative skills whilst supporting social interaction in a friendly, supportive environment. A chance to make new friends, share experiences, promote wellbeing and have FUN. |
